Hi everyone! Happy New Year!
I know I have been terrible at keeping up to date here on my website. As usual, I am always busy with work and life and I don’t always have the required time to update. BUT, it’s a new year so I figured I’d at least send off 2022 and provide the highlights of my art journey for this past year. Before I do that, I wanted to sincerely thank everyone who purchased art from me over the past year. Thanks for sharing my posts, my artwork photos and for leaving comments and likes as well as reviews and recommendations on my Facebook page! (And if you have received a piece of art from me whether you purchased or won a print or an original please leave a review with a photo if you have one – that really helps my page grow – Here’s the link https://www.facebook.com/MargieLewisArt/reviews )
In a year filled with challenges, I’m so grateful and so appreciate your support for my small business! You keep me glowing and bright all year round! May 2023 be filled with love, family and friends, health, happiness and fulfillment in everything that you do!
Despite not being as productive as previous years, I did feel I had a successful year. I finished a few commission pieces, painted a few for fun and happily was recognized with some art awards and certificates of recognition.
Here are my 2022 artworks!
Filleting With Leo Welcome Home Chickadee Some Lupins I finger painted with my grandson Hummicks Cresting Gunstock Outhouse My first kitty portrait
It was great to receive recognition for my work this past year!

I received a BRONZE AWARD for the "Realism 2021" Exhibition at Camelback Gallery for my "Mrs. Stanley" portrait.

I was super happy to receive this certificate for my participation in the Realistic Acrylic Portrait School. I never dreamed I would be able to successfully paint a portrait and I’m ever so grateful to my Instructor Matt Philleo for helping me learn to paint a portrait I am proud of!

I was selected as a finalist for the works submitted for the 51st Artavita International Online juried Art Competition. As a result I was included in the Worldwide Art Magazine which provides exposure to 235,000 readers including 30,000 galleries worldwide.

Here’s a closer look at “Splittin’ Cod (Part of submission that earned a Finalist Award “51st Artavita International Online juried Art Competition”, published in the World Wide Art Magazine Issue #9 May 2022 pg 48 Yay! Check it out at this link ->https://wwab.us/wwa-magazine-9/

I can’t even believe it still! I am super excited to announce I was one of three who made the finalist short list for The VANL-CARFAC 2022 Excellence in Visual Arts Awards – Emerging Artist Award!!! I will include the quote from the Visual Arts Newfoundland Website here – “The VANL-CARFAC Excellence in Visual Arts (EVA) Awards celebrate the achievements of visual artists and recognize the significant contribution the visual arts make to the vibrant and dynamic culture of Newfoundland and Labrador.” I attended the awards ceremony on June 10th and while I didn’t win the award, being placed on the short list was simply the highlight of my art career so far! I was and am so honoured and so exited to have made this list! Check out the link –> http://vanl-carfac.com/shortlists-announced-for-the-2022…/
As this year ends I told myself next year with the grace of God I will be able to take the time to paint more. I finally have a dedicated space in my home to create! I cleared out my upstairs landing, brought all my supplies etc. up there and I have a happy little space that has lots of light and I wanted to share with you!
I am hoping to be busy, busy, busy in this space in 2023! I can’t wait to see what next year brings! Here’s to a brand new year! If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me. I am always ready for a chat! Xoxox
Artfully yours!
Margie
