INFORMATION REGARDING PURCHASES OF PAINTINGS OR PRINTS
All of my paintings and prints will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. This certificate includes the title, name of the artist, year created; type of media used as well as the dimensions of the work and the certificate will be signed and dated.
The certificate will contain a copyright declaration. While the purchaser will own the painting or print, I retain all copyright of any works (including commission work) which includes the right to reproduce or replicate the work in any form (scans, prints, notecards, duplicate paintings, coasters, placemats etc.). No part of my work may be reproduced, photographed or transmitted in any form without prior permission in writing from me. A purchaser may request that the work will be a one-time original with no reproductions or replications of the work by the artist in the exact style of the original work. The artist reserves the right to paint the original subject in a different setting (different background, angle, colours etc.). In this case, the purchaser will pay a premium of five times the original cost of the works.
For Limited Edition prints only a certain number of prints (they will be numbered) will be made and no more replications will be made thereafter.
For non-commission work – item must be fully paid for prior to shipping. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. You will be notified of the cost of shipping when it is ready to ship. Once the shipping cost is paid the item will be shipped.
For commission work – I require a non-refundable pre-payment of a minimum of %50 of the price of the painting however full payment is preferred. No work will start on the commission until this pre-payment is received. I prefer e-transfer of all payments to margie@margielewisart.ca Commission work is generally of a personal nature and therefore it is not likely that I would be able to recuperate my loss of time or money through a resale although that may happen should the original commissioner change their mind. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. You will be notified of the cost of shipping upon completion and when it is ready to ship. Once the remaining balance is paid as well as the shipping cost the work will be shipped.
For prints I also require a non-refundable pre-payment of the cost of the print upfront before I place my order at the printers. The cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. You will be notified of the cost of shipping when it is ready to ship. Once the shipping cost is paid the item will be shipped.
