Hi everyone

Have you been enjoying all this snow? I think winter is here to stay especially on the West Coast! So, since I’ve been snowed in quite a bit, I have been spending some time learning how to paint some rather wild looking waves. I also have been experimenting with some new iridescent paints. BOY do they ever shine! I love how they have added to my latest painting especially along the edges of the cliffs.

When I was a child, even though I wasn’t directly on the beach, I could still hear the waves roll and crash as I fell asleep. I have always loved the ocean and you may just find me standing on top of craggy cliffs, waves crashing crazily below me, water spraying my face, surrounded by the sounds of screeching seagulls and water crashing!  Chaos around me yes, but here, I feel a sense of rejuvenation and exhilaration and the wild movement of the water is calming.

What do you feel looking at ocean? What does my painting say to you? I’m trying to come up with a name 🙂 Do you have a suggestion? Name my painting! Get 30% off your favourite print if I chose it!
I will leave you with this wonderful poem by Shirley Fudge which really speaks to my childhood memories of the ocean 🙂 Does it speak to you?

The Sea

© Shirley Fudge Published: July 9, 2018

Gentle lulling of the sea,
Once again you beckon me.
Caressing waves upon the shore
Transporting me to years of yore.
As a child, your charm I sought,
Protecting me from battles fought.
Upon your craggy cliff I sat
To gaze in awe and wonder at
The magic of your shimmering tide
That restored ease and peace inside.

  1. This is beautiful aunt Margie. I have always felt such a connection to the ocean. I spent much of my time as a child staring at it swimming in it, almost drowned once in it too! But still went back the next day. Yep its in my bones I also started writing book about whales when I was 8 too. Anyways I would name this painting, The joys of being raised by the sea. Or The ocean is a part of me. The ocean flows through my veins. SOMETHING like that.

Makes me think of myself and how I’d love to live near the ocean again.
