Come August and September the hills and forests surrounding Newfoundland communities become a beehive of activity as berry pickers forage for wild blueberry, raspberry and partridge berries. These end up as jars of jelly and jam and filling for pies and other desserts which are a staple in Newfoundland homes. I have many fond memories of trips in the woods to gather up these precious berries. I’m sure every family has their secret berry picking spot and dozens of wonderful tales of berry picking adventures. Original 10×20 acrylic.
